A) What was the article about? (in this case, articles, and include the video if you would like). This Article is about how the Rocky Mountain News paper just recently shut down after 150 years. The town was not able to support the local newspaper from being published. Throughout the years the Post and Rocky Mtn Newspapers were kind of competing against each other expiramenting with prices and what not and unfortunately the post won. This is a very sad time for the many who lost their jobs and the readers of the Rocky Mtn Newspaper who are now going to have to read the Post.

B) How does all of this apply to the profession of journalism, our class, and more importantly, to the future of journalism in this country on the whole?
This article relates to journalism because journalism is not a free ride. We have to be funded and supported by others to be able to keep going. If no one at the school read our Tiger Rag there would be no need to publish it anymore. The Rocky Mountain Newspaper was not making enough profit so they were forced to close. This is a sad and unfair thing, but in reality, with our economy as it is, changes have to be made at some point and sadly this newspaper was not able to survive.

C) What questions are you left with? Share at least two.
If the paper was so successful why was it shot down? Is there going to be packages that the old workers recieve? Or are they just on their own for finding a new job?

Photo Ban Lifted

1) What's the article about? Summarize i

Ever since 1991, taking pictures of flag-draped coffins has been banned. Recently President Obama has now allowed these photographs to be viewed by the public. Many people believe that publishing these photos is invading peoples privacy while others believe that by being able to view these photos, America will have a better understanding on the impact of the war. The government is taking in all of these considerations and now are allowing these photos to be viewed.

2.)How does the story connect to our journalism class and journalism as a profession in general?

This story relates to journalism in many different ways. As a writer or editor on our school newspaper, the Tiger Rag has to be sent through the administration to be checked. If they do not accept something they have the right to tell us to take it out of the paper. This relates to the banning of the pictures because when the public was told that the pictures were no longer allowed the writers had to find a different way to get the information out there. Journalists rely on photos to make there article stronger, and banning of certian photos can make this a dificult task.

3.)What questions does the story leave you with after reading it? List at least two.

Why are the pictures of the flag-draped coffins affecting peoples privacy when you can not identify any of the soliders?
How much effort did it take to get this ban lifted?
How does this affect the families of soliders who have passed?
